Leading The Way In Post Consumer Recycling

Dekura unveils new waste management service
12th January 2009

Dekura, the UK’s leading PVC-U recycler, will showcase its unique post-consumer waste PVC-U recycling and waste management service, at ecobuild.

The innovative new service can support social housing providers meet a raft of regulatory requirements governing disposal of waste but also deliver significant savings.

A little under a year after Site Waste Management Plans (SWMPs), came into force the PVC-U recycler argues many RSLs are still failing to recycle old early generation installations, that are being replaced with a new generation of more secure and energy efficient PVC-U products. The company adds that this is at unnecessary environmental but also financial cost.

Tony Moore, general manager, Dekura, said: “The social housing sector is under increasing pressure to reduce the amount of waste it is sending to landfill. Dekura’s unique recycling service, which includes the capacity to collect and recycle both post-industrial and post-consumer waste, provides the sector with a solution.

“PVC-U is fully recyclable, as well as being low-maintenance and durable, which makes it one of the most sustainable materials used by the construction industry.

“If RSLs work in collaboration with the building industry to recover and collect this valuable resource, Dekura can bring this material back into use in a new generation of advanced PVC-U products - fully closing the loop on the recycling process.”

As an accredited and full member of Recovinly, Dekura provides a unique recycling service with the capacity to collect and recycle both post-industrial and post-consumer waste. The company is at the forefront of PVC-U recycling innovation including all aspects of waste planning and management and offers full cycle traceability on all waste material it collects.

No recoverable material is sent to landfill by Dekura. Importantly, the company also offers full-cycle traceability on all material it collects, giving RSLs access to a unique and fully auditable trail.

What’s more, the PVC-U industry is not only recovering waste material but producing a new advanced generation of energy-efficient, low-maintenance sustainable products.  This has made a significant contribution to PVC-U’s ‘A’ and ‘A plus’ Green Guide rating from the Building Research Establishment.

Tony added: “With our dedicated new collection and recycling service, Dekura can provide the social housing sector and the construction industry more widely, with the simple solution to site waste planning and management and in so doing help it address the strict new regulatory controls governing the disposal of site waste.”
